The scientists University of Bradford have found that a combination of water from the Dead Sea, of Jordan climate with a special cream is very significantly help for vitiligo people. This observation has made by The Head of the University’s Institute of Pigmentary Disorders Professor Karin Schallreuter and her team. They found that, the white patches in skin are associated with a build-up of an oxygen-related molecule namely, hydrogen peroxide ( H2O2) in the skin. When this molecule developed in the skin then the people with vitiligo can’t fight with it due to a shortage of an enzyme in the skin. Thus depigmentation in their skin starts.
In order to find the solution of this problem, Professor Schallreuter and her colleague Professor John Wood had formed a cream and performed experiments on the effectiveness of it. They accompanied 108 patients – from 16 different countries – suffering from Vitiligo to the Dead Sea in Jordan. Then they allowed to each vitiligo patient to take a bathe from the water of this sea for 15 minutes and, after that, apply the cream and take sunbathe for one hour. This cream played an important roll for the replacement of this enzyme. This whole routine was repeated in late afternoon, which had finally showed that, it was an effective measure for the repigmentation of white patches in vitiligo patients.
