On the skin disease ‘Vitiligo’, a number of researches are being done and keep on doing. Recently a vitiligo research on Chickpeas was done. It is said that Chickpeas happens to be quite useful in vitiligo treatment.
To do the experiement, the chickpeas cream, was applied on around 50 patients who were suffering from vitiligo. This procedure was done for 20 to 90 days and patients of vitiligo started gaining the pigmentation on the affected parts of their bodies.
As for the question as to how the Chickpea works against depigmentation in this regard, the study says that this happens because the Amino acids found in chickpeas raises the production of melanocytes cells and then regenerates the pigment cells.
This study was done by the scientists of the Banaras Hindu University.
The research suggests that serum antibodies help generate cytotoxicity and destruction of melanocytes.
The researchers found that enzyme called tyrosinase is the one that produces melanin (coloring substance) for skin.
There are two types of melanocytes – one is called active and other is inactive.
